A Year in Review: 2017

With 2018 creeping around the corner we tend to forget what has happened in the past 12 months. Whether the year has been smooth sailing or as volatile as Bitcoin’s value – sometimes it’s nice to sit back and reflect on the adventures we experienced throughout the past year.

To start the year off, we got in touch with our inner celebrity chef and learned to make pasta!

No surprise here with the New England Patriots competing in yet another Super Bowl. Only this time Tom Brady a.k.a. G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time) wanted to put on a show by coming back from a 28-3 deficit.

When we’re not cheering for the Patriots, we’re rooting for the Celtics!
Or volunteering with organizations like Cradles to Crayons who provide clothing, toys, and school essentials to local children. A number of Tocci’s staff participated in the Cradle to Crayons annual contractor volunteer day.

Spring cleaning officially arrived and Tocci staff took their first step in understanding how to think lean. By implementing the following elements of 5S, we have been able to declutter and reshape our thinking process to be more lean.

  1. Sort
  2. Set in order
  3. Shine
  4. Standardize
  5. Sustain

As a reward, our HR, IT, and Accounting departments treated us to a baseball themed social hour!

As May came around, we dug up all of our old books to donate to More Than Words, a nonprofit social enterprise that works with youth in the foster care system, court involved, or homeless.

After the completion of Homewood Suite Worcester, we charged onwards by donating blood to the Boston Children Hospital. Did you know one pint of blood can potentially save up to three lives? If you are eligible to donate blood, fight through your fear of needles and make an impact.

Tocci continued their annual summer BBQ tradition by heading on over to Hopkinton State Park for burgers, hot dogs, sailing, and paddle boarding.

Can you tell Tocci enjoys their sports? The Tocci team also managed to snag some tickets to see the Red Sox! reds

To mark an historic event, Tocci employees were able to enjoy the rare occasion of a solar eclipse with the oh so fashionable solar eclipse glasses.

If you want to meet innovative people, what better way than to plan or participate in an AEC Hackathon? The 24-hour competition brought teams together to develop creative technological solutions for issues that the AEC industry faces. Kyle Martin, Tocci’s VDC Specialist, assisted in creating, organizing, and running the event.

If you’ve been following our blogs, you probably realized Tocci recognizes the importance of employee health and wellness. Well now it’s official, from the WWCMA program, Tocci was awarded the bronze level award for WorkWell Massachusetts.

Continuing our wellness trend from September – Tocci was recognized with the Health Champion Designation award from the American Diabetes Association.
Additionaly, Tocci broke ground for the new Hilton Homewood Suites, in Providence, RI.

And then there was this… From Business Development to Modeling.

In the month of giving – Tocci hosted the 3rd annual Thanksgiving Potluck fundraiser. Tocci matched all donations made at the event, with all proceeds going to the Woburn Food Pantry.

Last week at Union Point, the bubble for the recreational field has finally come to life. The two bubbles were inflated to create indoor facilities to play sports and host other acitivies all year round. Another construction milestone will be the topping off at Station Row (previsouly known as The Commons at Providence Station).

Getting into the holiday spirit, Tocci has a bunch of events lined up to spread cheer and joy. Just last week Tocci enjoyed their annual holiday party in Boston!

And held the annual tree trimming! Now that’s a good looking tree.

While 2017 isn’t quite over yet, we wanted to take this time to reflect upon our accomplishments, endeavors, and most memorable moments. We look forward to see where the upcoming year leads us!
