Spotlighting Cosmas Papanikolaou
Get to know Cos, one of our Cost Engineers.
What do you love about the construction industry? I like driving by or using Google Maps to see the things I built. It’s tangible. It’s real.
Why did you join the Tocci team? I am really excited about innovative process – I wanted to learn Revit & how to model a project. It’s truly the next evolution in our process. In high school, I learned how to draft by hand. In college, AutoCAD. Now, Revit. As a cost engineer, it’s important to get into the model more. No, we can’t just press a button to get a budget, but I believe it can really facilitate planning and estimating.
What gets you out of bed in the morning? My alarm clock!
What is your guilty pleasure? Watching PBS 24/7. I get 4 different WGBH channels at home, what more could anyone ask for?
What is the best advice you were even given? Always remember, the devil is in the details.
What is the coolest project you’ve worked on? HMS NRB and Harvard U were great, large buildings with lots of complexity. I got to see every type of earth retention in a single project – what can I say, I like dirt! Another cool one: CGIS & relocation of a 900-ton building for NWH. The relocation was actually filmed as part of the History Channel’s “Mega Movers” series.
